Diamond carat weight measures how much a diamond weighs.

When diamonds are naturally created, the process can result in a variety of internal characteristics called 'inclusions' or 'blemishes'. Diamond clarity grade is determined by the number of these characteristics seen inside of the diamond.

Diamond color evaluation of most gem-quality diamonds is based on the absence of color. A chemically pure and structurally perfect diamond has no hue, like a drop of pure water, which consequently increases the value.

A diamond cut is a style or design guide used when shaping a diamond for polishing such as the brilliant cut. Cut does not refer to shape (pear, oval), but the symmetry, proportioning and polish of a diamond.
